Members of the IOA are welcome to advertise their boats or equipment here free of charge. Please email me with a short description (up to 100 words or so), the price, and contact details where people can find more information. Non-members are encouraged to join the Association to use this facility (membership is just £10, please contact me for an application form and address to send your subscription).
This facility is offered as a means of attracting potential buyers to the Iroquois marque, and Sail Craft boats in general. It is not meant to suppplant the role of a broker, and indeed many of the boats advertised here are also offered through brokers, who can provide valuable convenience and security for what is a major transaction. The following comments were received from one owner following a successful sale through this page:
| "The IOA web site was excellent for selling - almost ALL of the enquiries I got came from that medium - but we still used [a local broker] for all the inspection visits and the sale. That cost a fee, but working at this distance it would have been impossible and quite expensive anyway to travel down every time a serious buyer wanted to look around the vessel. I got the broker to agree to the lower fee level that he charges for an "exclusive" contract by giving the verbal assurance that I would refer all contacts from the IOA site to him. Furthermore, at the moment of sale it is very, very safe and convenient for both the vendor and the purchaser to have a trusted third party to handle the legalities and the cash." |
We are often asked by prospective buyers what they should look out for when buying an Iroquois. The following is a list of the more common problems encountered:
In other words, there is nothing that can't be repaired. Obviously you need to check everything else as for any other sailing boat, and a good structural survey should find if there are any problems.
The following boats and equipment are offered for sale by the owners, who have provided the description shown below. The Iroquois Owner's Association accepts no responsibility for the accuracy of the description, or for the condition of the item for sale.
Items are listed in reverse order - the most recently received are at the top. Some items may have subsequently been sold - if owners don't inform me, I won't remove them.
